What is a Credit Report?

A credit report is simply a summary of a person’s responsible payment of credits. These reports are available to the public as free annual reports and continuous paid reports. What is included in a report is the credit score calculated by looking at the types of credits used (the good and the bad), their balances, instances of late payments, or other possible errors.

Normally, credit bureaus use your social security number and sometimes even your address to get the information they need. A credit report can show an individual’s credit activity over a period of months or years, depending on how the data is gathered. It’s recommended that if you have questions about what is in your report, you contact the creditor directly.

There is no way to avoid paying your debts; it is inevitable in any type of economy.

However, knowing what is in your credit history may help you avoid future problems due to a lack of due diligence when it comes to understanding your credit. By taking advantage of free reports, you will be able to stay informed about your credit score and what is in your report.
